Numerical and experimental investigation of alumina-based nanofluid effects on double-pipe heat exchanger thermal performances

Abstract In this study, we investigate the thermal behaviour of nanofluids in a double-pipe heat exchanger. It is about counterflow configuration, designed to cool lubrication unit thermoelectric power plant. The subject work evaluate performances exchanger by using nanofluid based on alumina suspension comparing with deionized water. order performance studied carried out numerical experiments an application developed COMSOL Multiphysics environment, these are utilized show feasibility application. As result, found that increase its volume fraction leads overall exchange coefficient, convective transfer as well efficiency and noted 1% fraction, can enhance effectiveness 17.62%, 1.473% 10.80% respectively. Besides, it concentration narrowing pinch points inlet outlet temperatures, which means more efficient cooling temperatures than conventional fluids.
